Nick has led a double life for many years – working as a versatile communications specialist during business hours, and either making or supporting music the rest of the time. It's here at Island that those two worlds collide! Operating behind the scenes of the studio, Nick provides our artist bio and press release services, creates our monthly Pineapple newsletter, and keeps our blog ticking over.
Nick holds an Honours degree in journalism from the University of South Australia and has over 10 years of professional experience in the communications sector. During this time, he’s specialised in content writing and multi-platform digital production across public, private, non-profit and community organisations. He also spent four years covering the Adelaide music scene and interviewing artists as a Radio Adelaide presenter.
Outside desk duty, Nick is an accomplished musician, having played guitar since childhood and performed original music spanning a range of genres since 2010. His music-making experience has taken him internationally to SXSW in Austin and Canadian Music Week in Toronto, as well as on several interstate tours in Australia. He has also put in countless hours in the studio recording with his bands or as a guest guitarist on other artists’ recordings. Currently, Nick is part of Major Shade (alongside our Assistant Engineer Tom Wormald), Ghyti, and Dean Forever.
With his unique blend of media experience, professional writing skills, and music-making know-how, Nick is just the guy you want to work with on publicity materials for your next record.
